POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL - PEG 4000 (pack size 5 kg)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A thermoplastic polymer obtained by the polymerization of ethylene oxide; the various types of PEG vary according to their average molecular weight, from which they take their name. PEG is soluble in water and in most organic solvents, but with the increase of its molecular weight, solubility and hygroscopicity decrease. The most recognized application of polyethylene glycols is the consolidation of waterlogged wood.
PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
PEG 200 PEG 400 PEG 1500 PEG 4000
- Formula: HO(CH2CH2O)nCH2CH2OH
- Appearance: clear liquid powder and/or flakes
- Molecular weight (amu): 200 approx. 400 approx. 1500 approx. 4000 approx.
- Melting temperature (°C): -40°C approx. -5°C approx. 45°C approx. 53-58°C approx.
