A salt of an organic acid (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid, tetrasodium salt) used in aqueous solutions with other reagents and inert materials for the preparation of cleaning mixtures and poultices to be applied to stone surfaces and frescoes. EDTA tetrasodium salt has the same chelating properties of the disodium salt, except for a lower solubility.
