An inorganic salt used in aqueous solutions with other reagents and inert materials for the preparation of cleaning mixtures and poultices to be applied to stone surfaces and frescoes. Ammonium Carbonate is used in the preparation of AB 57 as an alternative to ammonium bicarbonate, thanks to its greater efficacy and the important solubilizing action that it exercises on calcium sulfate. Exactly for this property it is used in the consolidation method with barium hydroxide, during the first phase of the transformation of gypsum.
